Deadline Approachng!

February 14, 2026

Change or add your party affiliation in New York Sate.

Those enrolled in a party may vote in that party’s primary election, to be held this year on June 23, 2026. If you did not declare a party affiliation when you registered, you cannot vote in the NYS primary. Currently, the major parties are Democratic and Republican.

LWVNWW Co-President, Kathy Meany, encourages all voters to register with a political party so that they can vote in the June Primaries. She states, “Voting in a primary election is the first step in the election process. If we, the people, do not take responsibility and select our candidates in June, then we may not be satisfied with the ballot selections in November. It is our voice that needs to be heard now. Do not let others decide for you!”

To change or add your political party affiliation, visit the New York State Board of Elections website HERE to either register online through the NYS BOE portal, or download the voter registration form and take it to or mail it to: Westchester BOE office, 445 Hamilton Avenue, 8th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601. Registering online is immediate; mailing a form is dependent on postal processing.

Your change or addition must be received by the BOE by February 14.

Even though February 14 is a Saturday, the Board of Elections will be open.
